Thomas Dobby 1731 – 1789
I think there’s a high degree of probability that these records for Thomas Dobby are the right ones for John’s father and my 5X Great Grandfather.
Born in Well, North Yorkshire and baptised at St Michael’s church on 1st April 1731.
Married to Jane Hog in St Michael’s church, Well on 24th April 1757.
Died in Well in 1789 and buried in St Michael’s churchyard, Well on 2nd June 1789.
I haven’t been able to find any information about Thomas’ wife, Jane Hog.
I haven’t found much information about Hannah Heslop’s father, Matthew Heslop. There’s a marriage record for 1747 but that’s quite a gap before Hannah’s birth. If this is a correct record, her mother was Jane Tindale from Pickhill but I think it’s too tenuous to attach the information to the family tree.
That’s the end of the line as far as the Dobby’s are concerned.
My 3X Great Grandmother, Hannah Dobby, married John Buckle in St Michael’s parish church, Well on 25th November 1811. Their first child, William Buckle, was born in 1813.
